So many happy memories of being in and at this house. Its my Grandparents house, which i spent many a day cutting and sticking. They moved out of this house a year ago into sheltered accommodation. I managed to speak to some of their old neighbours and managed to get them to take me on a tour of the current occupiers amendments.

Enjoyed many a pie in this pub. Used to go with my Nan and Granddad. Not sure if its still open. The chalk Board Menu looked fairly up to date though TeHe

Holy Souls RC Primary School, I attended from the age of 4 through til 11. Best school years i had.

I used to walk past this farm every school morning. All i remember is that the smell of chicken poop was often stomach churningly strong.

For a book i really wanted to go back to my childhood. So i could think of no better way than to revisit the place i called HOME as a nipper.
I took pictures and i walked routes which i walked for many years...The walk to school...Where we took our dog etc.
Going to upload some pictures...not all of them because there are quite a few.!
Also discovered that the place i grew up has changed an awful lot since i lived there....It look to be honest, shabby!
Also some of the places i loved like The sweet Shop called Mrs. Marshall's had closed down and the lady had unfortunatly passed away...So tinged with sadness and dissappointment....but i guess things have to change, for better of for worse...Anyway...pictures coming soon.

Growing up in The Burn

The Burn...A.K.A Blackburn.
I find it really funny how people make up little nicknames for their home town...probably to make them more appealing...like the BURN...Blackburn is justa normal north western town...little scratty round the egdes...but its a fairly alright place to live. I lived their for 17years and still class it as home. Im going to do a series of drawings from places and iconic moments of my touth...Will keep you posted.

Just before i fell asleep

i had an idea for a theme for a zine
It was 'Butter side up'
Id maybe make a slice of toast each morning throw it and then document which side it landed on. This would also be encorporated with drawings about the days events...positive or negative according to which side the toast landed.

So I think it's unanimous that the knitted tea cozy (on the previous post) hails as the cutest, hands down. Even IF I could knit, I'm not sure I could quite manage that. It's amazing what can be done with two sticks and a little yarn. Felt food caters more to my skill set at the moment. I made these pancakes last night and love how they turned out. (The little gnome is something I made awhile ago--he just sort of snuck into the picture. (Imagine him with a tiny knife and fork in each fist.)

The pancakes are super easy to make; here's how:

  1. You need four felt circles; two of each color. Mine are about 5" and 4" in diameter. Trace around a small saucer if you want.
  2. Cut an X in the middle of one light-colored felt circle and then sew the matching piece on top--all the way around, using a 1/4" seam allowance.
  3. Clip curves and turn right-side out through the X opening. (Enlarge opening if necessary.)
  4. Stuff lightly and then tack the tan circles on top. Add a "butter pat" if desired. That's it! Easy.
While on the subject of felt craft, it is slightly embarassing to realize that it took me a whole year to get around to adding some wool blanket project photos (that disappeared from my blog and became this book), as a flickr set. What can I say? I'm lame when it comes to promoting myself! Except to quietly add, that I have a handful of copies left if you want one signed by "yours truly". (I will be ordering more at some point, but probably not until after the holidays.) So. Enjoy the pictures, and please share your finished projects here so we can all marvel over them together.
Have to say...Semester one of year 2 was so brilliant. I hope it can be equal to semester 2. Cant wait to get going on this new project. Keeping the foundations to my work the same...but exploring is always welcome in my book (no i dont have a little book of rules...but we can pretend i do)

Book and Zine Fair in Preston last weekend in January 2010 (which is next weekend for all of those who couldnt figure out when the last month may be)
